How to properly clean your bag-less vacuum...what???

I know what you're thinking...."What does this have to do with anything? I know how to clean a vacuum." Well you may THINK you know, but chances are you probably don't...and if you do that's awesome, but you would be surprised at how many people do not know this. Let me explain a little bit, my family owns a cleaning and landscaping company....and I vacuum houses and businesses everyday so I know how to handle vacuums (just call me master vacuum handler...ha that wasn't funny..) When I started cleaning with my mom, I was shocked at how many people did NOT know how to properly clean their vacuums. This is for bag-less vacuums because vacuums with bags are a lot easier to clean...just replace the bag.

First off! You know the drill...pop that dirty dirt trapper thing out and empty all that crap out you just vacuumed up into a trash can or wherever your heart desires to place it...that's the easy part...BUT you're not done! No no no!! You should always check the little stick thing that is either in the compartment above the removable part of inside of that part. Hair and anything "string-like" can get caught up in it and that can compromise your air suction!
This is where people don't know what to do next! Normally below the removable compartment is a little pull up piece or a pull out piece that is for the filter. You should check this EVERY time you empty the vacuum. You would be surprised at how many people don't know this! You can either run your fingers across it to get all the caked dirt and grime off (if you wanna get yo' fingas dirtayyy!) or you can run it under some water BUT you need to let it sit to dry for at least like 12 hours...you really want to make sure its dry or else it'll make the dirt wet and be a pain in the you know what to clean next time.
This next part is something that a lot of people NEVER check, but it is very important as well. On some vacuums there is another filter on the side of the vacuum, you do not need to check this as often but you should definitely make sure it is clean. You can take care of this the same way as the other filter....either fingers or wash... but like I said.. make sure it dries!
And then you put everything back together!

Now why should we know how to properly clean a vacuum...because it makes the vacuum more efficient...and who doesn't want that! You will notice almost instantly that the suction of the vacuum has improved and you end up sucking a lot more!

One last note, if you notice that your hose has stopped working, pop that sucker off the vacuum and check for clogs... I can't tell you how many times this has happened to me. Also, don't dust before you turn your vacuum on after cleaning it for the first time, because a lot of the time depending on the vacuum and how old it is, there will be a big POOF of dust. :)

I'll stop with my rambling now, I hope this helped someone out there! So before you throw out that vacuum because it just doesn't work the same way it used to...try cleaning it and maybe you can save your dear old vacuum friend!

Thanks for reading! :D
