Good afternoon everyone!
So I had been wanting to try Wen ever since I heard about it years ago and I finally decided to break down and buy it...(off of QVC of course, gotta love them easy pays!). I paid about 50 dollars(that includes shipping) for two 16oz. bottles of the Pomegranate and Sweet Almond Mint, they came together for the price. The reason I wanted to try these so bad is because they're supposed to be way better for your hair, and I am all about my hair. There's no chemicals or anything like that and it's even supposed to make your hair grow faster. Another thing that appealed to me is that they would cut down on the amount of times you had to wash your hair in a week. My hair is pretty oily so that's a big deal for me...I have to wash my hair every day with normal shampoo and coniditoner. I have a lot of hair and its a little past my shoulders...So here we go...
My first impression of these when they arrived at my house was that the size was pretty decent, I was expecting them to be a lot smaller. They're not huge obviously, but for the price you pay you get a decent amount.
Then I went to smell them and I smelled the Sweet Almond Mint first and that smells pretty good, but the Pomegranate is a different story..I thought I was gonna love that one and that one kind of gave me a headache, but whatever.
I immediately jumped in the shower when I got these and I ended up using the Sweet Almond Mint first cause I had put the pump in that one first and it kind of started coming out of the bottle (which is my bad because it even says in the presentations on QVC to let it settle once you get it home or it will do that). The first time I used it, I got the best results...I followed the directions EXACTLY..I used an excessive amount of pumps and even repeated when it told me to. If you do it right, your hair feels awesome while your rubbing it in. I washed it out and pumped half a pump and left it on the remainder of my soaking wet hair and the towel dried it...as instructed. My hair felt FANTASTIC afterwards...my hair doesn't get knotty much anymore, but I have never run a brush so easily through my hair ever. Once it was dried, it was even better..and the best part is...it lasted THREE DAYS. I have never ever gone that long without washing my hair.
On to the second time, I tried using less cause you know..that stuff is expensive!..but I could already tell in the shower that it wasn't enough and I pumped more until I felt like it was sufficient. My hair only lasted two days this time.
The more I used it the less time I could go in between washing my hair...and please dear God do not mix these two together..it smells like the grossest medicine ever. I used it for about a month to see if there was some kind of "transition period" and like I said..it continued to get worse. I stopped using it on Friday or so and I had washed my hair when I got home from work (which was around 4) and by 9 it was so oily and disgusting looking.. I couldn't take it anymore. My hair felt heavy and awful...and my bangs got oily so fast.
Needless to say..I will not be using Wen in the near future. My cousin has been using the "no poo" (shampoo) method for a couple of months now and I have been using that instead and I have been LOVING the results I've had with that. I'm still trying to perfect it so once I get that down I will let you all know about that.
As always...thanks for reading! :)
